About the Award

The Abdulrazzaq Badran Photography Award was established in 2010 as an annual recurring event in cooperation with the Jordan Photography Society, honoring the memory of a pioneer Palestinian-Jordanian photographer, cinephotographer, educator & artist.

In its first year, the Award received wide favorable acclaim & recognition from the Jordanian public as a first of its kind family-sponsored award. A total of 38 photographers participated with 148 photographs, themed “An Eye on my Country”. A panel of distinguished photographers judged the participating works and announced the three top winners in a celebration held at the Jordan Photography Society on March 26th, 2011.

The Award hopes to encourage both amateur and professional photographers to capture creative images that reflect all aspects of Jordan’s landscape, heritage, architecture, and people. Such contributions will also serve as a valuable –free to use- graphic resource of contemporary Jordanian life through this website. The scope of the award will expand in coming years to include Palestine, in addition to Jordan.
